What is Speed Listening?

It's a social game we made up to get people to listen to new music and make new friends. Bring your music player and headphones, sit down with someone for seven minutes, plug into each other's players, select tracks for the other person from your player while they do the same for you, have a conversation as you go. At the end, we'll be dragging you away from your newfound friend/favorite jam to rotate to the next person--and repeat!

Why do we do it?

We've done over a dozen different types of events, but Speed Listening is the one that punters and press alike keep asking us for. We love doing it, too - the energy of a Speed Listening event is truly magical. Team Note Well has run nearly 50 Speed Listenings over the past five years!

Is it dating?

Nope. We used to run Singles Speed Listening, but we much prefer hosting everyone to come and connect with an open mind and make new friends. We are a music friendship project, after all!

What does the press think?

Time Out (2014) - "Speed Listening aims to help you find new music and make new friends through that age-old communication method, the mix tape."

Made in Shoreditch - "Everyone has heard of speed dating, sitting opposite a stranger with a few awkward minutes to tell that person your life story so far. Thankfully, The Note Well have adapted this idea and introduce a brand new way of meeting and chatting with new people and not necessarily just for dating."
